CLEAN YOUR HOUSE WITH COCA-COLA CLASSIC

WHY DO THIS?

Coca-Cola Classic tastes great with pizza and popcorn, but did you know that it can be used both inside and outside of the kitchen? The carbonic, citric, and phosphoric acids in the Coke make it a great cleaning product for certain tasks. It’s time to get fizzy with it!

What you’ll need

* Coca-Cola Classic

Note: The ingredients in Diet Coke don’t have the same cleaning capabilities, so stick with the classic!

How to:

1. Remove rust rings. If your toilet has developed a rust ring, get rid of it by pouring a full can of Coke around the rim so it fully coats the bowl. Let it sit for at least an hour while the acids in the soda break down the stains. Scrub the stains with a toilet brush, then flush! If that doesn’t work, it may be time to break out the pumice stone. Note: You can remove rust from smaller objects in your home by placing them in a full bowl of Coca-Cola overnight, too.

2. De-gunk pots and pans. The next time you burn the rice or leave the pasta on a little too long, pour an entire can of Coke into the problematic pot. Place the cookware on your stove at low heat for an hour. The soda will break down the grime inside the pot, making it easier to clean. Then wash your pot or pan as you normally would, and you’ll be grime-free!

3. Remove grease from clothes. Whether it’s from the kitchen or the garage, grease stains can seem impossible to remove from your clothes. But they’re not! Empty a can of Coca-Cola Classic into a load of laundry along with your usual detergent. Set your washer to a normal cycle and you’ll be all set. Tip: This also works for removing bloodstains from clothes, so sport uniforms can stay clean, too!
